Shearing Day – April 1, 2017
Join us April 1st (nope this is not an April Fools joke). This year we will have seventeen sheep to shear. This will give us a full day of shearing, fleece skirting and preparing the ewes for lambing.
Come join us, watch the sheep being sheared, learn how to skirt a fleece and maybe find a favorite to take home.
Picnic area available, bring a lunch. Be sure to dress for mud and cold. Out of respect for Marcus, our Amish shearer, we ask that no photos be taken of him shearing. We also ask that you do not bring your dog with you.
Mending Fences – May 20, 2017
Tom Sawyer whitewashed a fence, we will build two fences from scratch. One Hi-Tensile woven wire and one Hi-Tensile smooth wire. Bring your work gloves and learn the tricks of the trade and shortcuts we have picked up in thirty plus years of fencing.
Registration is due by May 6th, and cost to attend is $35. The class will run from 8am ’til dark or done. To register please Contact us or call 517-542-0192.
May 20th with rain date of June 3rd.
Sheep School 101- April 29, 2017
Vets routinely describe sheep as animals born looking for a place to die. But sheep raising does not have to be quite this dire and grim.
Spend a day with us and our sheep learning how we keep a happy and healthy flock. Prepare for lambing, vaccinations, deworming, feeding, lamb and ewe care.
Cost to attend is $30 and includes lunch. In order to provide the best learning environment we are limiting the class size to about six, so be sure to register early to make sure you get a spot. Registration is due before April 15. We also ask that you do not bring dogs.
